Showcasing Our Skillsets: Brown-Foreman Studio Update

Here at Open Grain Woodwork in Louisville, KY, we thrive on collaborative and large-scale custom builds. We had the pleasure of completing the design, planning, and fabrication phases for an exciting studio display, which stands as a prime showcase of our team’s capabilities and craftsmanship.

Below is a behind-the-scenes look at the specifications, materials, and collaborative efforts that went into bringing the Brown-Foreman Studio Update project to life.

The Final Look & Staging

The completed installation transforms the space into a highly sophisticated lounge and studio set.

  • Striking Silhouette: The dark gray horizontal shelves feature a unique, swooping step-down design on the left side, perfectly framing an illuminated, circular backlit logo featuring bottles and glasses.

  • Warm Contrasts: The bold, copper-painted vertical standards create a beautiful contrast against the rich, floor-to-ceiling wood tambour back wall.

  • Illumination: Overhead track lighting and integrated warm shelf lighting cast a highly textured glow across the tambour panels.

  • Inviting Staging: The shelving is elegantly styled with premium liquor bottles, a decorative globe, greenery, and books. Three modern high-top tables with matching stools sit in the foreground, completing the tasting-room aesthetic.

Project Overview & Dimensions

This installation is a substantial and visually striking wall unit designed for maximum impact.

  • The official project title is the Brown-Foreman Studio Update.

  • The overall structure is a massive 20′ wide by 8′ tall.

  • The total depth of the unit footprint is 18″.

  • The functional display shelves are 8″ deep.

  • For structural safety, the entire unit is anchored to the ceiling with cable.

  • The front design accommodates a 12″ custom circle logo.

Collaboration Details

Large studio displays require teamwork. While Open Grain Woodwork handled the core woodworking, several finishing touches were divided up to ensure the best possible result:

  • Open Grain Woodwork: We were responsible for the complete design, planning, and physical build of the framework and shelving.

  • Partner Responsibilities: They supplied and installed all of the integrated lighting that brings the display to life.

  • Backdrop: The client team supplied the stunning back wall tambour.

  • Finishes: They wrapped the shelves and standards with the dark gray and copper custom vinyl finishes.
