1. Engineering Stability: Custom Maple Kickers for a Pedestal Table

Woodworking isn’t always just about a fresh coat of stain; often, it’s about solving complex structural puzzles. We recently took on a precision modification project for a classic pedestal dining table that required a major boost in stability.

Our solution was to engineer and craft four custom support pieces—or “kickers”—out of solid maple, allocating one to reinforce each foot of the pedestal base. To ensure a clean aesthetic and maximum load-bearing integrity, each maple support was meticulously coped directly into the table’s existing legs. This precise joinery allowed the new supports to establish a perfectly flat contact point against the bottom of the table frame, maximizing surface contact and completely eliminating top-heavy wobble. It’s a prime example of how smart structural modifications can structurally secure a beautiful table for decades to come.

2. Bringing History Back: Antique Oak Chair Restoration

A client brought in a cherished antique oak dining room chair that had suffered significant structural failure: a completely snapped side stretcher and broken front legs right where they inserted into the seat.

While the owner had an impressive collection of personal tools, a repair of this caliber required specialized workshop equipment and traditional joinery skills. We carefully reconstructed the broken joints and meticulously matched our repairs to the original craftsmanship. The result is a structurally sound, beautiful chair ready to be enjoyed at the family table for generations to come.

3. Modern Sustainability: 1950s Mahogany Desk Upcycling

We love a project that keeps high-quality wood out of the landfill! A recent client approached us with a solid mahogany desk from the 1950s. It was a stunning piece of lumber, but its traditional, bulky layout no longer fit their remote work needs.

Instead of letting it go to waste, we transformed the large desktop into a sleek, modern computer desk tailored perfectly for a contemporary home office. By preserving the rich, historic mahogany and adapting the form factor for modern technology, we gave this mid-century beauty a brand-new lease on life.

4. Collaboration & Design: Dining Table Top Transformation

Working alongside a local designer, we took on an exciting challenge involving a badly warped dining table top. The goal was to give the client an entirely fresh look while sustainably reusing the table’s original apron and legs.

To achieve the client’s vision, we crafted a custom dining table top finished in a sleek, elegant black. Throughout the process, we provided the client with custom finish samples to ensure the color and sheen were exactly what they dreamed of. To make the project even more sustainable, we worked with the client to explore creative ways to repurpose the wood from the original warped top.

5. Erasing the Evidence: Foot Stool Repair After Puppy Damage

Sometimes, the smallest pieces of furniture hold the biggest places in our hearts. One of our favorite quick turnarounds this season involved a beloved footstool that had unfortunately become a temporary chew toy for a pair of energetic puppies.

The legs were left in rough shape, but our team went to work carefully rebuilding the missing wood structures and refinishing the damaged areas. We were able to completely erase the puppy damage, restoring both the practical function and the original charm of this well-loved footstool.

6. Precision Restoration: Cabinet Door & Glass Installation

Structure and aesthetics came together perfectly in a recent cabinet door restoration. The door arrived at our shop with loose, unstable joints and entirely missing glass panels.

We stabilized the piece by re-gluing the frame to guarantee long-term durability. From there, we blended traditional restoration techniques with modern materials to safely install brand-new glass panels. The restored door now looks as good as new and is ready to serve as a beautiful focal point in the client’s home.
