The core idea was to create a two-part, freestanding unit that would maximize the available space. The lower cabinet, envisioned at 32-35 inches tall and 18 inches deep, would provide ample storage. Above it, a shallower, shorter cabinet (around 20 inches tall and 10-12 inches deep) would offer display space and easy access to frequently used items. The overall width would be slightly less than the 33.5-inch wall, allowing for a custom, built-in feel without actually being mounted to the brick column behind the drywall.

The construction began with the lower cabinet. Using the 3/4″ walnut plywood, the main box was assembled.
